MISSION AND GOALS
California State Foster Parent Association
Representing All California Resource Families
“To Touch A Life Forever”
The California State Foster Parent Association's primary mission is to bring together all foster parent/resource family associations in California to promote the general welfare of children in need of protective care by providing support, advocacy and education for all California Resource Families.
This mission involves many challenges, including informing the general public of, and advocating for, a better understanding of the many issues and impacts of removing children from their birth parents and placing them in resource family homes.
Our Goals are as follows:
- Establish a central Association bringing together all Resource Family/Foster Parent Associations who wish to work together for the same purposes as set forth in our Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.
- Promote the general welfare of children that need protective care everywhere; at home, in the communities, in institutions and in public, private and religious schools.
- Develop a better understanding of the issues and challenges of foster home care, both by the persons involved in caring for children and by the general public.
- Encourage the training and education of personnel for work in the field of foster care, and encourage the recruitment and retention of foster and adoptive homes (resource family homes).
- Inform our membership of the current information pertaining to the welfare of children.
- Notwithstanding the above statements, the Association shall not, except to an insubstantial degree, engage in any activities or exercise any powers that are not in furtherance of the primary purpose.
